About
On a long enough timeline, pretty much everything changes. You get older, as do your friends and family. Your tastes shift. Things you once loved eventually lose their luster. New obsessions grip you. The trick is to embrace the upheaval.
Lauren and Craig (that’s us, up top there) had successful, comfortable lives in Johannesburg, South Africa. She was working at a global comms firm creating tech-focused content, he was the editor of consumer-tech magazine Stuff. Then Craig won a green card in the diversity visa lottery, they sold everything, packed their suitcases, and moved to New York City.
Along the way, they discovered there’s precious little information online about navigating the immigration visa process. And only slightly more concerning the challenges — large and small — of acclimatizing to US living.
This site aims to help others whose lives have been similarly upended, while also giving Lauren and Craig an excuse to get out and explore the new city they call home. This is Some Flux Given.
